Volunteers give their time, energy and expertise to administer the program and meet the academic, social, and financial needs of the scholars. ABC board members — with the help of other volunteers — organize the events that raise the revenues to operate the program. They work with the resident directors and tutors, serve as academic advisors, establish policies and procedures, and keep in close communication with the scholars.

There are many ways to participate whether you want to serve as a host family for a scholar, volunteer on an ongoing basis or only have a few hours to give here and there.

Winchester ABC scholars come to Winchester to attend top-ranked Winchester High School. The scholars live in the Winchester ABC House, within walking distance to downtown Winchester, Winchester High School and the train stop to get to Boston, which is just 9 miles away, or a 17 minute train ride from Winchester.

Winchester’s scholars are afforded unique opportunities through networks with our community members.

Our alumni describe their experience as one that creates life long bonds of brotherhood and connection.

Your donation allows us to provide our young scholars with a strong learning environment. Although A Better Chance of Winchester is an affiliate of the national A Better Chance Inc., we are a financially independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our funding comes from individual donations, fundraising events, local organizations, corporations, and foundations to cover annual operating expenses. Your support can help Winchester A Better Chance continue to provide outstanding educational opportunities to scholars whose academic potential exceeds their opportunity and we are grateful each year to the Winchester community for its generous support!

Gifts large and small are all appreciated. All donations are tax-deductible.
