We appreciate Chef Yari (and her sons)! Once a month the tables turn and the scholars make dinner for Yari. This time it was delicious tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. Thank you to the scholars who cooked and cleaned. And thank you Yari for good food night after night and week after week!
We were happy to be at the Community Connections Fair at the farmers’ market today! It was great to talk to friends at other organizations and meet some new folks too. Thank you to all who stopped by our table!
Our annual Welcome Back Barbecue was a fun time with good food, good music, and lots of great people!
John Bellaire joins Winchester ABC as the new Weekend Mentor! John graduated from Winchester High in 2021, and is currently working as an education policy analyst for Bellwether Education Partners. Last spring, John graduated from Brown University with degrees in Education Studies & International and Public Affairs. John has experience working with youth in outdoor education settings, school classrooms, and advocacy spaces, and he is super excited to be working with this year’s scholars! Welcome, John!
It’s been a busy, exciting first week back! This year there are seven scholars in the house— Joel, Tayo, Danry, Max, Jayden and new scholars Mike and Jed! Everyone is enjoying the improvements to the house. And there have been some fun orientation activities including a trip to Good Harbor Beach, Woodman’s for classic New England seafood, and an escape room! It’s going to be a great year! 💫
