Black history comes alive through creativity — art, music, words and more. We love this contest sponsored by the WHS Black Student Union and can’t wait to see the innovative work that students make.
What a festive and happy Holiday Open House! The scholars love their new sweatshirts from the ABC elves. Thank you to so many friends for stopping by. Please remember to donate and support WABC this year— winchesterabc.org
Today you can make a difference in the lives of the Winchester ABC scholars. Please consider a donation to support this amazing 52-year-old program that has 100-plus graduates. WABC counts on individual donations to support the needs of the scholars as they attend four years of Winchester High School. Costs have gone up for house utilities, house maintenance, SAT prep and summer programs, not to mention all the food that growing teenage boys need! You can donate online, through the mail, with a corporate match and through programs like Amazon Smile. Give the gift of education today. Thank you!
Mix and mingle with us at Lord Hobo’s tomorrow night! This fall fundraiser is super chill— some great food, beer, and conversation. Bring the family. We’ll have coloring books and stickers. It’s $25 per person. Buy your tickets at winchesterabc.org. See you there!
The WABC Author Event with Caleb Gayle was a huge success! Thank you to our cosponsors, @nfsjorg and @winpublib for helping us bring a fantastic night of history to Winchester. And big thanks to Caleb for a truly educational and entertaining evening!
Black Moses by Caleb Gayle has already garnered many accolades and it’s clear why— this is a riveting story of American history that resonates today. Listening to Caleb describe both the process of writing the book and the message that he hopes to convey had the audience spellbound. Copies are still available at BookEnds @bookendswinchester!
Fall Family Weekend was a lot of fun and gave us important time to connect with the scholars’ families. Thank you to the moms, dads, sisters and brothers for the great conversations and time together. 💕🙏✨

Happy birthday to Danry! You’re the most smiley 17 year old on the planet and we know the next year will be your best one yet! 💕🤩
Join award-winning journalist and author Caleb Gayle on Thursday, October 23 at 6:30 PM for a discussion of his new book, Black Moses: A Saga of Ambition and the Fight for a Black State. The book, which has been long listed for the National Book Award for nonfiction, tells the remarkable story of Edward McCabe, a Black man who tried to establish a Black state within the United States. After the presentation and Q&A, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of the book, courtesy of Book Ends.
